1. Who We Are

The Outpouring Foundation is a humanitarian non-governmental organisation operating in Nigeria. We provide relief, healthcare, education and empowerment support to vulnerable communities.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information you choose to give us:

• Contact form — your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the message you send us.
• Volunteer applications — your name, gender, date of birth, phone, email, address, occupation, skills, availability, experience, your reasons for volunteering, and a passport photograph.
• Website usage — a session cookie that keeps the site working securely, plus standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited).

We do not buy personal data from third parties, and we do not track you across other websites.

3. Donations

Donations are made by direct bank transfer. This website does not process card payments, and we never ask for or store your card number, CVV, PIN, bank password or one-time password. Any message requesting those details in our name is fraudulent — please report it to us immediately.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To reply to your enquiry.
• To assess volunteer applications and contact successful applicants.
• To keep accurate records of donations for accounting and audit.
• To protect the website against spam, fraud and abuse.
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

5. Photographs

We photograph our outreach work and share those images to show supporters the impact of their giving. We seek permission before publishing an identifiable image of an individual, and the permission of a parent or guardian for children. Your volunteer passport photograph is used for internal identification only and will not be published without asking you first.

If you appear in a photograph on this site and want it removed, contact us and we will take it down.

6. Who We Share It With

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with our staff and authorised volunteers who need it for their work, our web hosting and email providers, and where the law requires it.

7. How Long We Keep It

• Contact messages — 2 years.
• Unsuccessful volunteer applications — 12 months.
• Active volunteer records — duration of service plus 3 years.
• Donation and financial records — 6 years, as required for audit.

8. How We Protect It

The website runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection. All database queries use prepared statements, every form is protected against cross-site request forgery, and administrator passwords are stored as one-way hashes that nobody can read. Access to our admin dashboard is restricted and logged.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Delete your data where we no longer need it.
• Stop using your data for a particular purpose.
• Withdraw your consent at any time.

Email us to exercise any of these rights. We will respond within 30 days, free of charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

10. Cookies

We use only the cookies this website needs to work. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but the contact and volunteer forms will stop working because their security tokens cannot then be verified.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old, and applicants under 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
